FOOT RACES “IN THE SUMMER WE RUN IN AGISTRI”

Every year, since 2015, before the corona virus era, at the beginning or the middle of June, the People’s Foot and Swimming Race called “THE SUMMER WE RUN & SWIMM IN AGISTRI” was held with great success in Agistri, co-organized by the Association of Health Runners of Aegina, the Association of Health Runners of Piraeus and the APS Apollon Dyt. Attica, under the auspices and sponsorship of the Municipality of Agistri and the Association of Professionals of Agistri.

RACE CATEGORIES

1. A foot race of 13.5 km, the “ROUND OF THE AGISTRI”, , which traverses the entire island of Agistri with a start and finish in the area in front of the church of Agioi Anargyroi in Skala.

2. 5km foot race with the route Skala – Megalochori – Skala, which essentially joins the 2 largest settlements of the island, starting and ending in the area in front of the church of Agioi Anargyroi in Skala.

3. Dynamic walk 13.5 km. which takes place on the same route as the foot race of the “ROUND OF THE AGISTRI”, starting and ending in the area in front of the church of Agioi Anargyroi in Skala.

DESCRIPTION OF THE 13.5 km RACE

1. Running race called “Round of the Agistri”

The route, with its main characteristic of the continuous changes in the landscape, starts from Skala and follows the coastal road to Megalochori, crosses it and goes inland, reaching the other end of the island, namely Limenaria, from where the athletes will turn around and return in Skala. Almost the entire route after Megalochori is located between pine trees and is on asphalt, with moderate vehicle traffic, with a mileage indicator per kilometer.

2. Dynamic walking on the same route 13.5 km.

On the same route as the “Round of the Agistri” running race, there will also be a Power Walk of the same 13.5 km. Walkers will start half an hour earlier than the main race and follow the same route or as far as they can. The foot race will not be competitive, while everyone will be given a commemorative medal.

MOUNTAIN RUNNING RACES “HARDSUN” IN AGISTRI

The “Hardsun” mountain running races in Agistri consist of two mountain running routes on forest trails, and a children’s race on a paved and flat road.

• 1st “HardSun trail race” route of 27 km. and a positive altitude difference of 936m., with the starting and ending point being the area in front of Copa Cabana, on the coastal road of the Skala area.

During the 1st route, the athletes crossed almost the entire pine forest of the island, passed by chapels, beaches and reached the highest point of Agistri, the Kontari area, with an altitude of 294m. and a view of the entire Argosaronic Sea.

• 2nd Route “Agistraki trail race” 10 km long and a positive altitude difference of 367m, with the starting and ending point being the area in front of Copa Cabana, on the coastal road of the Skala area.

The race route was circular and the athletes during the 2nd route crossed the oldest settlement of the island, Katoudi.

The paths on both of the above routes were mainly in a forest area, while there were also some places on asphalt and on a paved road.

The competitions were designed with the aim of introducing the public to the beauties of Agistrio and giving them the opportunity to come into contact with nature.

• The children’s race”Kids fun race” had a starting point, the space in front of Copa Cabana, on the beach road of the Skala area.

Our young athletes were headed towards the area of Megalochori, following the central coastal road of Agistrio, on a paved and level road, without obstacles and no degree of difficulty. After 750m (just before the Amarilis restaurant), the little runners made a U-turn and returned to the starting point.

1st “HARDSUN” MOUNTAIN RUNNING RACE IN AGISTRI

“Copa Cabana” organized in Agistri on September 6, 2020, the 1st HardSun mountain running race, which was held on two mountain running routes under the brands: “HardSun Trail” and “Agistraki Trail”, as well as a children’s race called “Kids Fun Race”.

2nd “HARDSUN” MOUNTAIN RUNNING RACE IN AGISTRI

“Copa Cabana” organized in Agistri on September 5, 2021, the 2nd HardSun mountain running race, which was held on two mountain running routes under the brands: “HardSun Trail” and “Agistraki Trail”, as well as a children’s race called “Kids Fun Race”.

In the races “Hardsun trail 27km.”:
Α. In the men’s category, the first place was occupied by Yiannis Vlachos with a time of 2:30:34
Β. In the women’s category, first place was taken by Vasiliki Tsima with a time of 02:31:16

In the races “Agistraki trail 10 km”:
Α. In the men’s category, the first place was taken by Leonidas Athanasopoulos with time 0:49:19
Β. In the women’s category, the first place was taken by Antigoni Georgiadis with time 1:01:09

3rd “HARDSUN” MOUNTAIN RUNNING RACE IN AGISTRI

“Copa Cabana” organized in Agistri on April 17, 2022, the 3rd HardSun mountain running race, which was held on two mountain running routes under the brands: “HardSun Trail” and “Agistraki Trail”, as well as a children’s race called “Kids Fun Race”.
